She has big plans for all the fun they’ll have together, like tea parties and snow angels, but when Yeh-Yeh arrives, Daisy finds him less jolly than she imagined. Throughout the week, she tries all sorts of things to get him past his grumpiness. Will she be able to make him smile before he goes home?

The relationship that a child has with their grandparents is usually one of a kind. Grandpa Grumps by Katrina Moore is a tender look at how one little girl learned to communicate with her grandpa in a very special way. Daisy is so excited that her Yeh-Yeh is coming from China to visit. She has so many things that she wants to do with him. But, when he arrives Daisy is dismayed to learn that Yeh-Yeh is grumpy. It will take determination, and some family cooking to bring the two together. Katrina wrote a beautiful story about finding common ground and celebrating family. The illustrations by Xindi Yan are expressive and filled with bright colors and fantastic details. The back of the book shares the recipe for the delicious dish that brought them together. This is a beautiful story that blends the importance of family, culture, and tradition.
